Alternative name for item in grid

Item names can be quite long and text gets small in grid, also images display beneath text which can make it difficult to read. Need the ability to have an alternative shorter item name (text) that shows in items grid only. And choice of larger/bolder text. Or if we set up barcode name and have ability to use that in the grid instead?
