Simple discount price rule + quantity with decimal

We need this combination to function properly please. At the moment, if I set up a simple discount price rule for a category with items NOT sold in whole numbers (weight variable) then the system won't accept a decimal in the quantity in the sale in combination with the discount. Please could this be fixed, we sell a lot of weight variable items.
